Student Uniform Requirements

DRESS CODE (3303)

Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School values and needs the support of parents in cooperating and ensuring compliance with the dress code and grooming guidelines.

Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School considers modesty, neatness, and pride in one’s appearance as both essential for the students’

learning environment as well as important for our children’s future.

All students at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School are required to wear the uniform adopted by the School from the first day of

school until the last day of school unless that student is participating in a School sanctioned Spirit

Dress or Free Dress day.

A student’s uniform is to fit properly, be clean, pressed and in good repair.

Faded or torn uniform items are to be replaced. Although every faculty and staff member is charged with enforcing the uniform code, it is primarily the responsibility of the parents to make sure that their students are properly dressed.

Students are expected to follow the dress code expectations of their biological sex throughout the school day and during all School events, which include, but are not limited to, athletics, extracurricular, and social activities.

The dress code which follows will be enforced by the Administration, faculty, and staff. Uniforms must be purchased in store or online at

Flynn O’Hara. The San Antonio Flynn O’Hara store is located at 2108A NW Military Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78213; (210) 247-4180.

Because uniforms look alike, all articles of clothing should be marked with the student’s name--preferably with “sew-in” labels as ink markings eventually wash out.

Dollar Free Dress Days:

Throughout the year, there will be days when students are not required to wear their uniforms to

School. These are referred to as “Dollar Free Dress” Days. Free Dress Days are currently scheduled to

take place once a grading quarter as listed on the Free Dress/Spirit Dress Day calendar set forth below.

In order to participate in Free Dress Day, the student must pay a $1.00 fee on that day, and all the

money collected will be donated to a charity chosen by the Principal. Clothing worn on Free Dress Day

is to be in good taste and should not distract from the learning process.

Clothing considered in poor taste includes but is not limited to the following:

1. Baggy pants.

2. T-shirts with inappropriate advertisements (alcohol, innuendo, sex, tobacco, violence, drugs etc.).

3. Bandanas.

4. Midriff, halter, spaghetti straps, strapless, exposed back, sheer or tank top shirts or dresses

(dresses or skirts shall touch the top of the kneecap in the front and back of the knee).

5. Jeans with holes or frayed edges.

6. Cut-offs, spandex or Lycra, form fitting bicycle shorts, wind shorts, shorts with frayed or

unhemmed edges or shorts with holes are not acceptable. Shorts are to be no shorter than

four (4) inches above the crease on the back of the knee. Students may wear uniform

Any student found to be inappropriately dressed will have his or her parents or legal guardians called

to bring appropriate clothing to the School or to take the student home resulting in an unexcused

absence for that day. The student will remain in a supervised designated area until the issue is

resolved. The student also risks the ability to participate in future Free Dress Days. The $1.00 paid will

not be returned.

Free Dress Days are considered an earned privilege and are subject to being revoked at the discretion

of the Principal at any time.

All other uniform guidelines shall be followed.

Changing Clothing After School or For Special Circumstances
Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School students represent our community at all times and especially when in uniform. Students should arrive at and leave from School wearing the required (full) uniform. Students in the sports program are permitted to change out of their uniform for

sports practice and competitions. Students in the After School Program must remain in full uniform otherwise. Students participating in school-related activities, such as extracurricular, PSIA activities or other special functions, may have a different dress or grooming code required by the sponsor, coach, or administration. If such occurrence happens, the faculty member responsible is asked to notify the administration and teachers in advance.

ENFORCEMENT AND VIOLATIONS OF DRESS CODE AND PERSONAL APPEARANCE STANDARDS:

1. Teachers are expected to enforce the student dress code and personal appearance standards of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School.

2. The Principal or the Principal’s designee(s) has the authority to determine whether a student’s appearance and attire are in conformity with the School’s dress code and personal appearance standards. The Principal’s judgment/decision in these matters is final. The Administration may call the parents or legal guardians of students who are dressed inappropriately and require that a change of clothing in conformity with the School’s dress code and standards be brought to the School.

3. Violations of the dress code and/or personal appearance standards are considered a matter of

discipline. Failing to meet the dress code and/or personal appearance standards is a Level 1 behavior event and is to be entered under Behavior in RenWeb for the student involved. Repeated violations will increase this to a Level 2 violation and will require Administration involvement. Consistent dress code violations could result in detention and/or suspension. Parents and students must be willing to cooperate with the School by complying with the Dress Code and Personal Appearance Standards in order to remain enrolled in the School.
